Japanese Plum [梅 (Ume)] is one of the representing flowers of the early spring of Japan.
The typical color of the flower is pink or white and blooms from the middle
of January to March in Kamakura and Enoshima.
Japanese Plum trees are often planted in the precincts of the
temples and the shrines.
Where is the good place to see Japanese Plum?

When you visit Katase Nishihama Beach on the middle of May, you'll find many small pink flowers at the landside of the sand beach. This is
False baindweed [浜昼顔(Hama hirugao)].
It was the common flower which we can see at the beach, but drastically
decreases in recent years.

The
Rose is the plant which grew wild in Japan originally. But it came to be generally loved since Meiji era.
In Kamakura and Enoshima, it is often planted in the garden of a personal
house or villa built after the Meiji era.
There is a time of flowering twice a year, from the middle of May to middle
of June and from the middle of October to middle of November.
The garden of Kamakura Museum of Literature [鎌倉文学館] is the most popular
rose flower spot in Kamakura. Everyday during the flower season, a lot
of photographers and tourists visit here at the same time open the gate.
Another rose garden is in the top of Enoshima Island.
At Windsor Square in Samuel Cocking Garden, the roses gifted from Windsor
City in Canada (a sister city of Fujisawa) is planted and pleased visitors.

To see
Autumn colors [紅葉 (Koyo)] is one of the highlight for travelling Japan in Autumn.
In Kamakura and Enoshima, because of a warm climate, you can see Autumn
colors from the end of November to early December that is later than other
places of Japan.
If you would like to see Autumn Colors here, Kamakura is the best place
because there are many famous spots.
Especially among them, we recommend to go and see at the garden of Hasedera
Temple in Hase. Because the
autumn colors garden light-up event is held and specially open at evening.
As there are many evergreen trees in Enoshima Island, so there are not
so many trees that turned red or yellow. But still you can see autumn color
of maple trees and ginkgo trees in the coastal park and around the shrines.
Above all, a big ginkgo tree in Enoshima Jinja Shrine that is totally turned
yellow, soars is wonderful.
At Ryukoji Temple in Katase Town, there is several big ginkgo trees around the entrance gate and also you can see some maple trees which turned red at the mountain side.
Where is the good place to see Autumn Colors?
Tulip [チューリップ] is another popular spring flower in Japan. However in Enoshima
Island, it blooms in the cold winter days on the middle of December to
end of January.
This specially grown tulips planted and bloom in the mid-winter at the
entrance of Samuel Cocking Garden every year.

During the period of "Colors-Fest!" event (from April to June every year), lot of colorful flowers planted in
Nakatsunomiya Square and
Samuel Cocking Garden in Enoshima.
At seaside cliff in
Yama-futatsu Valley of the island, you can see Hydrangea in June and July, Cosmos in October
and November, Japanese pampas grass in September and October.
In Hase town west of Kamakura, there is two famous temple that is called
as "The temple of flowers",
Hasedera Temple and
Kosokuji Temple. Some flower always bloom in these temple.
